Hi! I’m Kara and I’m so happy you’re here!
I was born and raised in Maine as the youngest of four siblings. From a young age, I was always the girly girl of the family, developing a passion for hair and makeup. After pursuing a degree in Business Marketing for four years, I realized it wasn't the right path for me and made a drastic change in my life. I joined the apprenticeship program at Akari in Portland, ME in 2017, where I trained as a hair cutting and bridal specialist.
During my time at Akari, I became a young single mother and decided to take a break from working in the salon in 2019 to focus on raising my daughter while working as a project manager. Despite stepping away from the chair, I continued to do bridal hair and makeup, knowing I would return to hair styling when the time was right. In October 2021, I started rebuilding my skills part-time at Eunoia, where I honed my cutting technique, learned about color, scalp treatments, and hair extensions.
In April 2022, I made the leap to become a full-time self-employed stylist, and in June 2022, I moved into a suite at Mint Salon Block in Scarborough. I now truly understand the saying "love what you do and you'll never work a day in your life." I am grateful for my clients who have become friends, the brides who trust me on their special day, and my colleagues who support my growth and learning.
When I'm not working on hair or makeup, you can find me spending time with my daughter and family, working out at the gym, exploring farmers markets, or attending concerts.
